January 25, 2026 - Doh

It's funny how simple things can become so complicated. I was programing on the sites as I always do and realized my favicons were not showing up. This has been going on and off for weeks and finally annoyed me so much I decided to get to the bottom of it. 

I tried all the tricks I found in the searches, I had checked out, but nothing worked. 

I checked out the source code and everything was fine, all as it should be. I'm thinking this is not complicated its programming 101. Every time you think its complicated, it isn't. Its a simple solution. 

Now back in the day, the only way to get a favicon was with a .ico file. So I'm thinking what is different with this situation. Funny how all of a sudden something hits you and you go, no that can't be it. 

I have set up my sites, so that no one can link to my images. Then it hit me. All my images are either, jpg gif png or webp. I protected those......

Yup my favicons were png, so my server protected them, I didn't think that meant favicons as well. (DUH). 

Computer language is either Yes or No, no other option.  So i decide to check my theory, disable the protection and see what happens. Yup all the icons showed up......

So here is the outcome and advice. If you protect your site with, hotlink protection, don't use standard images for favicons. Instead use other types ie: .ico and .svg

.ico is finicky trying to get a not so blurry image, svg on the other hand, works really well. 

So, all my favicons are now svg files, All is now well......... Whew.


January 13, 2026 - Discovery

Today I found out something about myself. I discovered an inner Me, I didn't know was there. I created something beautiful. Not with pen and paper, not with paint, but digital. Something that has always been my passion. Being able to create something visual from me in my being has always been a challenge. I have been watching Bob Ross videos, thanks to Alex, I realized I needed to create. I started with a canvas with colour and it flowed from there. I cannot explain the feeling of joy when I looked at my creation and said, Yep I'm done.
